Busy bee gets the honey

I've been super busy these last several days. I hardly touch the computer to check email and such, so updating this blog has taken back burner status.

I think every photographer has stages of comfort-zones in the subject matter that resides in front of him/her. Let me explain that in non-garbled English.

What I mean to say is that most photographers are comfortable with certain subject matter, but are less confident when shooting something else.

Like me. I'm actually quite scared of portrait photography. I mean, I'm fairly comfortable with creating candid wedding storybook style photographs, but sometimes I will stutter and second guess myself when I take pictures of people in general. I know, it doesn't make any sense to me either.

I also used to think my landscape photographs are poor, and thus, it frightens me when I'm challenged with an expanse of empty space.

And then I'm slowly realizing that a lot of the time, it's because I haven't had any great lighting to work with, nor really interesting landscape to take pictures of.

I guess the trip in Calgary changed all that. I'm getting (sorry to brag about myself) some fantastic shots!
