love is good

The woman read my blog about a proper fry-up. I woke up this morning, and well, except the baked beans, I was greeted with a pretty hearty breakfast.

Two eggs, two sausages, a strip of bacon, slice and a half of toast, and Earl Grey tea with milk and sugar.

And I had a newspaper to read. What a great Friday.

By the by, the woman doesn't mean being called that, she liked how she went from girly to woman.

Nice.

I'm on a roll!

I have had the Logitech Dinovo Edge keyboard for about 3 years now. In all that time, I've literally used it maybe less than a week of total input work.

It is such a pretty keyboard that I feel guilty using it. So I don't abuse it. I use it when I surf the web on my big screen TV. Since I seldom watch anything on the big screen, I use my keyboard even less.

Thing is, the battery doesn't hold its charge very well. The keyboard was touted to last 60 days before needing a charge. Mine lasts maybe 1/2 hr of solid usage. I think on standby, I get maybe 1/2 a day or a day.

I quickly googled for my problem, and lo and behold, I'm not exclusive. It appears other people were experiencing the same issue.

I guessed that my keyboard was close to being 3 years old, and warranty was 3 years. Well, I called up Logitech tonight, and they will RMA it for me!

Excellent.

lame duck

I'm a fan of hatchbacks. I'm a fan of anything that swoops down at an angle in the butt end of the vehicle. I love the Audi A3, the Audi A4 wagon. I love the old Mazda 3 sport, the newer version (smiling grill and all). To this day, my MKIV Golf GTI still makes me smile whenever I pull it out for winter driving duties.

Heck, I'd even rock a Mini Cooper. The woman drives a Yaris hatcback which I suggested would be a great first car (and it is, in spite of the cheap plastic cockpit).

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of other great hatchbacks from the list above. Afterall, they are practical, and with a decent engine, they are fun. I even liked the Pontiac Aztec, as well as the BMW X6.

Have you seen the Euro Honda Accord wagon? Like hello, Red!

And then the Honda Crosstour came about, and Oh Am Gee! What an epic fail.

Bear in mind the picture above is the "official photoshopped version", where they try to make it look as great as possible. It just doesn't work.

I'm sure everyone and their uncle who are remotely interested in cars have seen this grotesque looking vehicle. If not: LINK

Gross.

eric, 1; maytag wall oven, 0

Did you hear the one about the wall oven that turns on by itself? Yeah, it was hot.

Okay, I fail at jokes, but I win in terms of service.

About 3 months after purchasing the oven maybe 3 years ago, our oven light burned out, or so I thought. Pushing the button did nothing. I left it alone.

Sometime this year, buttons started to not function randomly. Pushing a button (for example, the number 9) did not produce a "beep", it just wouldn't punch in.

I called Magtag for warranty inquiry, but it was way past their 1 year warranty, and said it would cost $85 for the first 15 minutes.

The control panel got progressively worse. Up until 2 weeks ago, I think I could press convection bake, set timer, and the numbers 1, 4, 8, 0 worked, but that's about it.

So 2 weeks ago on a Sunday morning, the oven turned on by itself. It's like someone pushed the "convection bake" button and waited for the person to set a time/degree. I first jokingly blamed the woman for having a big butt. But it would turn itself back off right after as well. Her butt wasn't that big.

Our Magtag oven has a feature where if you push the bake button twice in a row, it would automatically start the oven at 350F - and that is what started happening Monday morning. You can quickly surmise how dangerous this could be. I don't know if the oven would turn itself off again. I didn't wait to find out. I turned the oven off at the breaker panel.

I called Maytag again, and this time, quite honestly is a safety hazard. The ramifications if their oven burned our house down would be huge. Lawsuits, insurance claims, and well maybe a Youtube video would really put a strike against them.

They called in a technician to diagnose the problem for free, at least I've saved that part. Then the warranty rep at Maytag called me again today and said they're ordering the part and fixing it for free!

I finally have a win.
