reader fail

I think one of the best aspects of having a portable device is the ability to read digital books.

Having the fruit device was part of this equation, either by wile or by guile (sonic boom!), I wanted to read books.

The problem was finding the correct software. Now, there are many readers that support multiple format. I found some books online in .HTM format. Curious.

I tried a bunch of readers, either they were impossible to upload files to without syncing to iTuna, or they required you to upload files to some cryptic folder structure, and once completed, you'll never find again.

The kicker is, none of the readers I tried in the beginning had a bookmark feature. I don't get it. It didn't even save as last page read.

I did finally find one that saved bookmarks, but if you rotated the screen to landscape mode, it would start you off at the beginning of the title. And it only fails because it needs to rotate. Dumb.

I found another software, which worked very well, except there was no bookmarks if the book was .DOC or .HTM. In the end, I had to re-convert to PDF format before it would allow me to use the bookmarking feature.

See, the Apple device is great. The whole "eco-system" thing? Not so much.

beep boop

And yes, my default ringtone is R2-D2 beeps.

What's that R2?
